  • Contextual Data

  • For 2016 entry contextual data provided by UCAS will routinely be taken into account, as part of the admissions process, to decide whether applicants should receive a preferential offer. Contextual data may also be used during the confirmation process, when deciding whether a place can still be offered to those who narrowly miss their required results.
  • Interview / Audition policy

  • Majority of offers made on content of UCAS form with no interview. Mature applicants with no recent learning experience may be interviewed.
  • Parental Education

  • In accordance with our Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy applicants are considered on their merits irrespective of family background and other comparable grounds. However, we are mindful that the lack of a family tradition of proceding to HE can be a barrier to widening participation. This factor, together with others, will be taken into account in considering applicants on the margins who may not have met the terms of the offer squarely but nonetheless have the potential to succeed.
  • Progress File

  • Used as additional evidence in marginal cases to decide whether to offer or confirm a place.
  • Unit Grades

  • Aberystwyth will not be using unit grade information at the application stage. Unit grade information will be used as part of the overall review of performance in cases where candidates do not meet the terms of their offers at Confirmation. Unit grade information will also be taken into consideration during Clearing.
  • Scholarships and Bursaries

  • We have a wide and valuable range of scholarships and bursaries available to students studying courses at Aberystwyth. Please see our website for full details of what we can offer.
