Student Union

When you enroll on a course at Newcastle College, you automatically become a member of Newcastle College Students' Union (NCSU), an affiliated member of the National Union of Students (NUS). As a Newcastle College student you can apply for a NUS Extra card entitling you to a number of fantastic discounts in shops, restaurants and services nationwide. Our Students' Union can offer guidance, provide information as well as stand up for your rights and campaign on your behalf. We have a social programme running throughout the year including trips, events, volunteering as well as the opportunity to become members of clubs and societies. Newcastle College's Students' Union has a Learner Voice and Students' Union Coordinator, a full-time elected Students' Union President and a range of other elected officers that are staffed by volunteers. These officers help with the running of the Students' Union as a fair and exciting organisation and represent you in areas such as LGBT issues, disabilities, higher education and welfare. These officers are elected into post annually by students so make sure you look out for the elections, maybe you will be the next Students' Union President!

Non financial student support

We want your time with us to be as enjoyable and as stress-free as possible. Our support services are here to offer advice and support when you need it. We are committed to providing an inclusive education environment and offer support for all students to ensure that the College is a safe and positive learning environment for all. Our Student Services team have an excellent reputation for providing support, and hold the Matrix Award, the quality standard for information, advice and guidance. They can also refer you to any specialist agencies for additional support if you're experiencing personal issues that may be affecting your studies. As well as this, our team can discuss your further learning needs and talk you through additional courses that you can progress to once you complete your degree course. If you require information on childcare, our advisers can talk you through the available support (Limited places are available at our day nursery located at Rye Hill Campus).

  • Interview / Audition policy

  • The Schools of Business and Enterprise, Community, Health and Care and Creative Industries will interview or audition before making an appropriate offer through UCAS. Prior to audition and/or interview information about the format and requirements will be sent through e-mail and/or letter. Mature learners will be required to demonstrate a minimum two years industry-related experience.
