Skills and experience gained

Marketing enables companies to satisfy customer demand, to position themselves effectively against the competition, to develop business opportunities and to create value for the organisation, its customers and stakeholders. Mapped against the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Professional Marketing Standards, our Marketing modules are strongly vocationally-oriented with practical assessments. You will explore hands-on practical aspects of Public Relations as well as gaining a comprehensive understanding of strategic aspects of reputation management, thus preparing you to make a valuable contribution to the senior management of an organisation. This degree will provide a relevant qualification for candidates keen to work in the very popular media and marketing communications sector. It will mark you out as a communications specialist, with a strong understanding of how to influence a range of key stakeholders. Alongside an exploration of the major management functions and of the global environment in which they operate, you will learn how to become an excellent and persuasive communicator; to articulate corporate vision and identify long-term strategy; and to think creatively and analytically; to make logical decisions; to interpret and use management information; to manage crisis and challenge; to work effectively as a member of a team with the ability to lead and inspire others; to be self-reliant; to use initiative and to champion an ethical and socially responsible approach to business. In Year 2, you will also have the opportunity to study at one of our partner universities in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Europe.
