Why study this course

This degree allows you to gain the skills, knowledge and understanding demanded by employers. Covering all of the major disciplines in the creative sector, this programme allows you to develop the skills needed in today’s complex media environment. We teach by using real business scenarios, so you’ll draft marketing plans for actual companies – which have in the past included Aston Villa Football Club and National Express - and get experience in our in-house marketing agency, The Link. In your third year, you’ll undertake a paid work placement, and you’ll also have the chance to enter a range of competitions to enhance your experience. The course has been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, demonstrating its high-quality content.

You will study at one of the UK’s most established and respected Business Schools – one of only a handful of study centres selected by the CIM to offer dual awards. In the most recent National Study Survey, 91 per cent of students said they were satisfied overall with this course (NSS 2014). Every year, our Marketing, Advertising and PR students show what they're made of in the B-hive competition, where we have a history of success. The competition is chance to impress local industry judges with your solution to their brief and win paid work experience at top local agencies. Increase your employability skills and experiences with the Leadership Challenge (a series of events, projects and competitions mirroring real-life business) and take advantage of the unique facilities at the Concept Factory, our purpose-built social space for enterprising students. Birmingham City University have our own dedicated internal Marketing Agency, The Link. Run by undergraduate students, the members of the agency serve real clients in response to a live brief.

There are many opportunities to gain skills and experiences on this course: Undertake a year’s work placement and a twelve-month exchange programme in the second year at one of our international partner institutes, which is an excellent opportunity. After the course

On completion of your degree you can continue your studies with Birmingham City Business School with a masters qualification such as an MA Public Relations, MBA, Executive MBA, MSc Management and International Business or Marketing, or our MSc Leadership and Organisational Performance.
