Who’s this course for?

We recommend the Medipathways 2-year BSc in Biomedical Science if… You have formal qualifications in Biology & Chemistry at or above A-Level BBB (or equivalent); You want to optimise your chances of getting into a UK medical or dental school as a graduate; You would prefer to finish your undergraduate degree in 2 years rather than 3 and save a whole year of study and costs; You would like to keep your options open so you can move into employment or an MSc or PhD in case you decide not to pursue a career in medicine or dentistry; You still want the option to study medicine or dentistry in the UK and would consider studying abroad as a graduate; You are considering studying a similar Biomedical Sciences degree at another university, but would like to save a whole year of costs and time, and to study in Central London.

Modular structure

Level 4: Doctors Patients and Health, Molecular Cell Biology, Brain Muscle and Control, Gut Hormones and Metabolism, Circulation and Fluid Balance, Matter and Energy in Medicine --- Level 5: Cell Signalling and Communication, Integrated Pathology and Therapeutics 1, Immunology Infection and Immunity, Experiments Data and Evidence --- Level 6: Genes Disease and Identity, Integrated Pathology and Therapeutics 2, Brain Physiology and Behaviour, Research Project --- Students additionally receive support in preparing for UKCAT, BMAT or GAMSAT exams; and guidance on personal statements and medical school selection and interviews.

Skills and experience gained

The 2-year BSc course requires focus and dedication to attain good grades within the time frame. All of the skills acquired on a traditional science led 3 year BSc are developed, including graduate attributes of critique, integration and problem solving, and employability skills of communication and drive for results. The accelerated programme means the students must learn effective time management skills and prioritise their studies.

After the course

Students who complete the Medipathways 2-year/3-year BSc in Biomedical Sciences may apply for graduate or undergraduate entry into Medical and Dental schools in the UK.
